Language Interpretation Services

Over-The Phone Interpretation for 150+ Languages.

  These are just some of the situations in which you could take advantage of Language Line Services

  • A non-English speaker calls your organization for service or information
  • You need to call a person/business of a different language
  • Whenever you are unable to communicate because of language differences via phone or person-person

What Is It?

Information Technology Services (ITS) contracted with AT&T Language Line Services to provide over-the-phone language interpretation services for over 150 languages at the best rates researched.

AT&T Language Line Services give you quick access to an interpreter who can help you communicate with associates of other languages.

How does it work?

In short you will need to contact the Penn State Operator at 865-4700 and supply the following information:

  • Your Name
  • Your Phone Number
  • The budget/fund/project information for the use of language services (rates are below)
  • The language you need interpreted
  • The telephone number (if you are calling out to an associate)

The Penn State Operator will then put you on hold while he/she contacts the AT&T Language Line Services interpreter. Once confirmations and approvals are processed (approx 30-40 seconds) the Penn State operator will then conference you with the AT&T interpreter.

You may now communicate with the individual.

What does it Cost?

AT&T Language Line Services Rates:

            Monday - Friday             5am-5pm                  Spanish = $3.50/min

                                                                                    Others    = $4.00/min

            Nights/Weekends/Holidays*

                                                5pm-5am                  Spanish = $4.00/min

                                                                                    Others    = $4.50/min

  • New Year's Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day
  • Long-Distance International Usage rates are not included

Language Line Services is strictly CONFIDENTIAL. All interpreters are bonded and sign a strict code of ethics confidentiality agreement.
