Faculty Invited to Free Seminar on Breeze and Copyright Issues

Faculty interested in the Web-based desktop videoconferencing system Breeze Meeting are invited to attend a free seminar, "Copyright Issues Associated with Using Breeze for Instruction, on November 8 from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. This is the first in a series of "Faculty Focus on Breeze" open seminars focused on pedagogical issues. The seminars, offered by Information Technology Services, will be conducted online using Breeze. Through the Breeze interface, participants will be able to interact with the meeting hosts and guest presenters, ask questions, and make comments. During this seminar, featuring guest speaker Dr. John Harwood, participants will explore those copyright issues faculty are most likely to encounter when using Breeze for instructional purposes. Topics will include general copyright and fair use rules that apply to both synchronous and recorded Breeze classes, limiting access to recorded Breeze classes, and the difference between using the Breeze "Share" pod to display materials and the "File Share" pod to distribute materials. To attend the seminar, go to http://breeze.psu.edu/Faculty/ at the date and time above. The seminar is open to anyone in the Penn State community who would like to attend; no registration is required. Please plan to log in to the meeting early if you have never used Breeze before and will need help configuring your sound. For those unable to attend, a recording of the seminar will be posted on the Penn State Breeze home page at http://meeting.psu.edu/ shortly after the session. For more information, e-mail breeze@psu.edu.
