Many Web-Based Training (WBT) technology courses
were upgraded in December and new topics added for personal,
professional, and academic development. One thing has not changed: all WBT courses, provided by Computer and
Information Systems, are still free to anyone with a Penn State Access
Account. Visit http://wbt.cac.psu.edu/ to get started.
Redesigned to be Easier
The new WBT Web site was redesigned with the user in mind. The new user-centered interface allows you to quickly access all the resources and tools you can use. Tabs at the top of the page organize information so that you as an instructor, staff member, or student can find the information most important to you.
Clicking on the far right "Log In" tab and choosing the option to "Change My WBT Training Plan" will take users to the newest feature, the Training Plan Editor. It allows you to customize which courses you want to view, making navigation through the more than 1,000 courses easier.
New Topics
Now you can develop communication, customer service, leadership, management, and personal development skills online. A new group of 72 nontechnical topics brings a new dimension to professional development at Penn State. Each topic is made up of several courses, which take only two to three hours to complete, and can be integrated into your annual staff development plan.

New Software and Upgrades
Along with an interface upgrade, some new information technology courses have been added to WBT. Macromedia Dreamweaver 4, UltraDev 4, Flash 5, and Microsoft Office XP are among the new courses. As part of the effort to keep improving WBT, courses will now be added and upgraded on a monthly basis. So check in often to see what's new.
We encourage you to explore these and other C&IS learning opportunities and initiatives in the coming year. Visit http://cac.psu.edu/training/ for more information on training at Penn State.
