The Penn State Call Center can assist with departmental office support by providing expanded Message Services that cater to your needs!

Message Service

This service will unleash you from the office by allowing phone calls to be answered by the Call Center for coverage over the lunch hour, during holidays, staff meetings, or other occasions when the need may arise. The service works by having the departmental phone number forwarded to a special Call Center Message Service phone number. The Call Center Agents will answer all calls and forward messages to departments by email every hour, or as desired by the department . Special arrangements can also be made with the Call Center to handle urgent or emergency calls so that these messages will get to the designated departmental contact as soon as possible.

How to Request Message Service

    A no fee Consulting Services Request Form (CSR) is required in order to process a Message Service request. It is not necessary for departments to process a separate CSR for each request, as all requests can be budgeted on one standing-CSR for the fiscal year. A Message Service Order Form must also be submitted in order to complete the Message Service request process.

Message Service Rates

The following charges will be applied to the budget/fund submitted on the CSR for each Message Service type:

$5.00 Hourly
$25.00 Daily
$50.00 Lunch Hour Message Service Per Month*
$35.00 Special Holiday Rate (through Winter/Spring Break)**
* Monday - Friday, noon to 1:00 p.m.
**  Special holiday rate for the following Holidays:
Christmas Break (with the exception of Christmas Day
and New Year's Day) open 8:30am to 4:30pm, and
Spring Break open 7:00am-7:00pm.
