Purpose
The Cross Reference dialog is used to select what kind of entity [A] you want to reference and optionally in which file [B]. After you have made a Cross Reference selection type, you are then linked to the Reference List dialog.

Method(s) to invoke

  • [Chapter] > Cross Reference...
  • Alt+X (shortcut)

    Discussion

    • The easiest way to invoke the Cross Reference dialog is via the shortcut Alt+X. The options available to you in the frame [A] will depend on what options you have selected in your Thesis Settings. In our example, (Note) and (Equation) are not selectable, implying they were not selected in your settings. Once you select an option in [A], e.g., (Figure) your filelist is presented in [B]. [image]
    • The default file selected in [B] will be the active document you are in when you invoked the Cross Reference. Thus, in our example, Chapter2. If you want to reference an item in another file, just select the file in [B] before pressing [OK].    [image]

    • If you check option [C] then you only need choose the entity you wish to reference in [A] without picking a file in [B]. When you then click [OK] you will proceed to the list of items which you can reference in the active document. [image]

An example Figure reference list is given below. For details about Reference Lists, click here
