Index PSUthesi Dialog: File ReOrganizer Close Window

[red letters] within dialog images are links -- [image] returns to the dialog image

Purpose
This should be used to ReOrganize Chapter or Appendix files so that internal file field settings are retained. You can Add a file, Insert a file between two existing ones, Remove an unwanted file, or Swap two files. All files must exist before you can use the ReOrganizer. (See Notes section below).

Method(s) to invoke

  • [Files] > File ReOrganizer...
  •

    Discussion

    • The reorganizing options shown in [A] will display graphics and a message [D] to inform you of the general type of action that will be taken. Using the filelist [B] shown in the example dialog above [image], here is what each function would do:

Insert: reorganizing to insert a new Chapter2 (which you would select in [C]) would cause Chapter3 to become Chapter4, the current Chapter2 to become Chapter3 and a new Chapter2 would be created.

Add Chapter: would prompt in [C] to add a new Chapter4.

Add Appendix: would prompt in [C] to add a new Appendix3.

Swap: (as shown) would cause Chapter1 to become Chapter3 and Chapter3 to become Chapter1.

Remove: if Chapter2 were selected to be removed in [C], then Chapter2 would be deleted (actually archived) and Chapter3 would become Chapter2. [image]

    Notes

    • All files, according to your current settings, must exist to use the file ReOrganizer.

    • Your settings will be adjusted if the number of Chapters or Appendixes changes.

    • Copies or archives of files are made during any reorganizing so that no information is lost or (literally) deleted.

    • The fact that a file changes, e.g., Chapter1 becomes Chapter3, means much more (internally) than a filename change. That is why the ReOrganizer should be used instead of manually moving files around. [image]
