Message to Users Upgrading to Version 2.0

With the introduction of version 2.0, it is the first time structural changes have been made to the interface and styles template that require special action by the PsuThesi system when you upgrade.

When you download the upgrade files, in addition to the new 2.0 program template, PsuThesi.dot, a file called PsuStyles20.dot will also be downloaded. When you then startup the new PsuThesi, it will recognize this file and go through a series of steps to perform the upgrade.

• First it will ask you if you have a backup copy of your PsuThesi folder. If you do not have one, you should as a safeguard make a backup folder before you begin the upgrade process. The upgrade will make a backup if you ask it to. If you interrupt the process to make a backup copy, you can then restart the upgrade by pulling down [Helper]>(PsuThesi 2.0 Upgrade)

• Once the update process begins, be patient, as it needs to make a number of changes which are dependent on the size of your thesis files. The process includes:
  • Copying new styles into your PsuStyles.dot
  • Deleting old styles from your PsuStyles.dot
  • Copying new autotext into PsuStyles.dot
  • Then the message:

    Your "PsuStyles" template has been updated
    with the new version 2.0 styles.

    Your existing thesis files will now be updated
    please be patient.

  • Opens each file and converts old styles to new ones
  • Updates the styles and saves the document
  • Then the message:

    All existing thesis files have been updated
    based on version 2.0 styles.

    After you verify your files were successfully converted,
    you can delete files "PsuStylesOld" and "PsuStylesUpd".

• If all updates are made without any problems, you can then continue to use the new PsuThesi as you had in the past.
